Artist's Description

For several years, I lived in Maine. My family was once from Maine as well. One of my favorite places (of many) was the Marshall Point Lighthouse near Port Clyde on the St. George Peninsula. This piece is an abstract naïve watercolor painting based on my memory of that beautiful location.

About Bentley Davis

Bentley Davis

I am a Cincinnati, Ohio based artist. I work in vitreous enamel, painting, and photography. My art is improvisational. Like jazz music, it requires expertise but also fluidity and experimentation. And as a feminist who believes, following Audre Lorde, that Poetry is not a Luxury, I see artistic self-expression as a way to be human and whole. Creating works of art and photography offers me an opportunity to give shape to my place in the world. The work I do is quite diverse as my interests are diverse. My art has been exhibited in several juried exhibits in museums and galleries around the country.
