Description
The Isaac M. Wise Temple is one of the oldest synagogue buildings in the United States. Built in downtown Cincinnati in the 1860s, it was formerly called the Plum Street Temple, and had Isaac Mayer Wise as its first rabbi (Wise also founded Hebrew Union College, the Rabbinical school for Reform Judaism).
This building is an important and beautiful Cincinnati landmark both because of its history, but also because it's beautiful Moorish Revival architecture. This photograph is of just one exterior detail -- the center circular window.
