Artist's Description
This abstract improvisational piece in shades of blue and gold reminds me of someone happily cheering -- but as it is not "of" anything, each viewer will see something different. That said, I like the idea of it expressing joy. We need to hold on to joy in these times -- whether it be remembering past joy, appreciating current sparks of happiness, or being hopeful for better days ahead.
This piece has a lot of textured details and brush strokes which can best be seen by using the zoom tool.
About Bentley Davis
I am a Cincinnati, Ohio based artist. I work in vitreous enamel, painting, and photography. My art is improvisational. Like jazz music, it requires expertise but also fluidity and experimentation. And as a feminist who believes, following Audre Lorde, that Poetry is not a Luxury, I see artistic self-expression as a way to be human and whole. Creating works of art and photography offers me an opportunity to give shape to my place in the world. The work I do is quite diverse as my interests are diverse. My art has been exhibited in several juried exhibits in museums and galleries around the country.
