Artist's Description
This photograph is of the last magnolia blossom of the season. The rest of the tree is all leafy green, but the one pink bloom remains. It is a perfect metaphor for that unique individual beauty who stands out from the crowd -- or for a late bloomer whose achievements are remarkable.
About Bentley Davis

I am a Cincinnati, Ohio based artist. I work in vitreous enamel, painting, and photography. My art is improvisational. Like jazz music, it requires expertise but also fluidity and experimentation. And as a feminist who believes, following Audre Lorde, that Poetry is not a Luxury, I see artistic self-expression as a way to be human and whole. Creating works of art and photography offers me an opportunity to give shape to my place in the world. The work I do is quite diverse as my interests are diverse. My art has been exhibited in several juried exhibits in museums and galleries around the country.
