This photo was taken from the overlook at Fort Ancient. One can see forested hills through the two trees in the foreground. The one hint of people in the photo is a highway bridge in the distance.
Fort Ancient is the site of earthworks built by the Hopewell people, Native Americans who lived in Ohio. The area is of such vital historic and cultural importance that people are trying to get it UNESCO status.
About Bentley Davis
I am a Cincinnati, Ohio based artist. I work in vitreous enamel, painting, and photography. My art is improvisational. Like jazz music, it requires expertise but also fluidity and experimentation. And as a feminist who believes, following Audre Lorde, that Poetry is not a Luxury, I see artistic self-expression as a way to be human and whole. Creating works of art and photography offers me an opportunity to give shape to my place in the world. The work I do is quite diverse as my interests are diverse. My art has been exhibited in several juried exhibits in museums and galleries around the country.
